I have been a pastor for four years and in that time I have been appointed to a 2-point charge in deep south Texas, Freer UMC and Bruni UMC. Before being appointed there I was a chaplain at Baylor hospital in downtown Dallas for 2 years. I graduated from Perkins School of Theology at SMU in 2011. I received my bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist in San Antonio in 2007. I have worked in the local church for several years before going to seminary. I have been a children’s director, nursery director and a youth director. Being a youth director helped form my passion formission and being the hands and feet of Christ to ALL of God’s creation. My parents are retired and live in South Georgia and my middle brother lives in San Antonio with his wife and son. My oldest brother passed away several years ago. We grew up in the Air Force and lived in the Philippines 2 different times. My babies are the 4 legged kind. Mozart, my cat is almost 2 and my rescued dog, Baxter is 8 years, we think. I enjoy the outdoors, flea markets, movies and spending time with family and friends. The Bible stories that hold a special place in my faith journey are blind Bartimaeus and the paralytic and his friends. As we journey together you will learn why these stories hold a special place in my soul.
Patrick Melton was born in 1970 in black clay of the Mississippi Delta. He grew up attending public school in Cleveland, MS living a few miles outside of any town surrounded by soybean and rice fields where he fell in love with the outdoors. After joining the National Guard, transferring to the Texas National Guard and moving to Texas, he meet and fell in love with a beautiful young lady by the name of Stephanie Hastings and they were married in 1995. Together they have two children Anna and Ben. Anna is attending college at Texas State University seeking a degree in English. Benjamin attends Canyon Lake High School, the same school at which his mother is employed as the State Testing Coordinator. In 2009, Patrick FINALLY accepted God’s call on his life into ministry and began attending seminary at SMU Perkins School of Theology. He finished his classes in January of 2015 and will begin his internship with us in the Fall. Stephanie and Patrick have dedicated their lives and their marriage to serving God in whatever capacity God directs them. Family and relationships are their primary focus, but both love a good meal when enjoying the former. Their hobbies include volatile card games, time spent on any beach, reading, trying to stay in shape and loving their neighbors.

I have lived in the New Braunfels area for the last 25 years, having graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1995 and continuing on to obtain my Registered Nurse Degree with Baptist School of Health Professions. My background as a nurse has been focused in a critical care setting with some work in the oncology and home health fields. I am also the mother of three children, ages 4, 11 and 15. I maintain a great deal of pride for, and am very passionate about, the New Braunfels community. I vow to uphold the mission of Methodist Healthcare Ministries, “Serving Humanity to Honor God.” I am blessed with this opportunity and I look forward to serving your congregation and our community as the new Wesley Nurse.
