MYF Mission Statement

The youth group of First United Methodist Church New Braunfels exists to bring others and ourselves closer to God and to serve others as the hands, the feet, and the heart of Christ

Our Five Purposes:  (we will fulfill our Mission Statement through these actions)

Reaching- reaching out to others with the good news of Christ, telling our story of faith.
Connecting- building a fellowship of faith where all are welcome and connected, where we love and care for one another
Growing- offering opportunity to grow in discipleship and spirituality
Serving- finding a ministry and a way to serve others as God’s children
Honoring- celebrating God’s presence among and within us

Come check out our MYF! Middle School and High School will meet in Wesley hall from 5-6:30 Confirmands welcome to stay. We will have dinner together, play games, have worship with Faith B4 Fear leading us, a group devotional, and then we will break up into two groups (Middle School and High School) to have our discussions. Come check us out! We still need some help leading those small groups. Let me Terri Hartman know if you are interested! Leader:

CHURCH BY THE RIVER:  reaching people beyond the homeless

The youth are going to help serve the homeless here in New Braunfels, TX. We will be making breakfast tacos here at church, and taking them to the worship service held for them.   They will have different stations:  food, worship, clothing, and essential bags.  Members can help in any or all of these areas.  Stay tuned for more information!

SPOTLIGHT ON THE Youth in Service:
The supply drive for the Guadalupe County Humane Society: a project done by some of our youth with their Girl Scout troop. Donations were made by our youth group, as well as organized by one of our very own 6th grade confirmation students! With a lot more hard work, and a little luck, they may even get to go to state competition in March.  In the meantime, they just wanted to thank they youth group for all their help and encouragement, and yeah, to brag just a little bit

Under the Bridge: Sunday, February 19th
We went again to down town San Antonio together to serve a hot meal to homeless under the bridge. The Confirmation class, parents, and youth council members are taking this chance to give back. We not only provided a hot meal but we also brought toiletries, clothes, and hygiene products to hand out.
Pictures to come!

UPCOMING YOUTH IN SERVICE:
March 31st the youth will be making breakfast tacos for Church at the river. (Read above).
Continuing Project:
The facility in San Marcos that houses many teens that have gotten into trouble needs a book of encouragement, short stories, art, music, poetry, life experience, and testimony from you to them.  This book is envisioned to be the soul of FUMC youth.  This process is intended to be completely anonymous.  Youth can contribute part or parts (as many as they want) and be as honest as they feel they can be.
We will be collecting you entries from now until the end of school.  Use this time to see how God can use your talents and gifts to reach others.  Youth leaders will help compile the book and work on having it bound as a real book.  Youth, see how God works in your life and use your “everyday experience” as inspiration.  Go on the church web page under youth for more information!

Confirmation Information for Mentors:

Here are some things “required” of you, so you all don’t run away scared….

WHY?

The mentor program was designed to encourage and nurture young disciples. This is an opportunity for Mentors to build a relationship, share their faith stories and offer guidance to young disciples as they prepare for further service in Christ.
