“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
– Matthew 28:19
We hope adults of all ages and areas of interest will find ways to become more deeply involved in the Discipleship process at FUMC. Visit a Sunday School class, be part of a short-term study, join (or help begin) an ongoing small group, offer to lead a Bible study, participate in mission and outreach projects.
Please contact Karen Andrews using the contact form here with any questions you may have about our adult ministries.
MINISTRY INFO

Come, Wade, Dive is First United Methodist Church’s discipleship process. These simple terms challenge each of us to consider where we may be currently be along our Christian walk. Am I just now beginning to attend worship services and have not yet gotten involved in other ministries of the church? Then I am probably in the “Come” area of the process. If I attend worship regularly and have sampled a Sunday School class or introductory Bible study, then I am ready to “Wade” into the water, by being a bit more challenged on my journey of Discipleship; perhaps I now want to participate in a more challenging study, become a part of an ongoing small group or begin to spend time reading and studying the Bible, attend a Walk to Emmaus, deepen my prayer life. At some point I am ready to “Dive” into the deeper waters of the Discipleship journey; I may lead a class or a study, serve on a ministry team or committee, participate in hands-on mission projects, partner with others in an accountability group of Bible study or faith development.
Your Discipleship Team develops and offers church-wide studies for adults at all points along the process of becoming Disciples of Jesus Christ.
ADULT MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES
Sunday School classes are a foundation of our Adult Ministries. During this time when groups are unable to meet in the building, almost all our adult classes are meeting by Zoom. Class times and days vary throughout the week. All classes welcome visitors and new members. Please refer this chart for meeting times, class topics, and request additional info - please select corresponding class/classes you wish to know about in contact form here.

United Methodist Women is the world’s largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members whose mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders, and advocating for justice.
Members raise up to $20 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.
The First United Methodist Church New Braunfels’ general meeting takes place on the first Tuesday of the month in the Assembly Room (Room 118). Small group Circle meetings are third Tuesdays at 9:30 or 2:00. We also have a newer evening Circle that meets on 2nd Wednesday at 6:30pm.
At this time, all UMW and Circle meetings are held by Zoom. Contact Emily Poling here for information about participating.

The Shawl Ministry of First United Methodist Church New Braunfels is a group of ladies who knit or crochet prayer shawls for those who are going through difficult times. The group meets on the second Tuesday of the month (except the summer months) at 2 pm in the Parlor. Finished shawls are blessed with prayers before they are distributed.
Although they are unable to meet in person during the pandemic, this ministry group stays busy knitting, crocheting, and praying over shawls which are gifted to those who are facing life challenges as well as for new babies. Contact Harriet if you’d like to share your handcraft skills in this way.
