WORSHIP
SERVICE INFORMATION
11:00 Gospel Service This Sunday the Stringtown Texas Band will lead the 11:00 worship. It’s sure to be a joyful worship service.
Mobile Communion Stewards We are now forming a group of volunteers who can take Communion out to our homebound members on the first Sunday of the month. You can request to join this volunteer group here.
Questioning and Answering This Sunday, Pastor Theresa will complete her two part sermon covering the questions we ask of God and the answers we give to God’s questions of us.
The Basics: Rediscovering Our Core Mission (begins next week) As we stand on the threshold of a new season, both in nature and in our spiritual journey, it’s time to refocus and reconnect with the heart of our faith. The past few years have been a whirlwind of change, challenging us in ways we never expected. From the global upheaval of the pandemic to the shifts within our own United Methodist Church, we’ve navigated stormy waters together. Now, as we look ahead to 2025 (yes, it sounds futuristic!), it’s time to ground ourselves once again in the bedrock of our beliefs and purpose. Our first sermon series, “The Basics,” aims to do just that by focusing on the fundamental mission of the church: to love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ. “The Basics” isn’t just about knowledge—it’s about action. We’ll explore practical ways to live out these core principles in our daily lives, reigniting our faith’s fire and our impact on the world around us.

STUDENT MINISTRIES
The biggest need in our student ministry going into Fall of 2024 is for volunteers. In student ministry, that need starts with parents and then extends to the entire church. We have created a link where you can go to sign up to volunteer at any and/or all of our Student Ministry events (MYF, Sunday School, Wednesday Refuel, Top Golf, Lock-in, and Friendsgiving) this fall. Descriptions of the volunteer positions can now be found in the Student Ministry group on Church Center in the Resources section, as well as the link to the sign ups page. Once you sign up, you will be automatically added to the Student Ministry Volunteers group where specific communications and further resources, like Safe Gatherings links and curriculum will be found as the semester progresses.
Like we said on Sunday, in order to maintain our church’s and students’ safety, volunteers are necessary, so any events that don’t receive enough volunteers will be cancelled, per church policy. If you’d like to sign up, you can follow this link: https://fumcnb.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/category/85583
Thank you so much for helping make our student ministry possible! If you do have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Urgent Need: Our Christmas project is giving a $10 gift card from HEB or Walmart to the residents at Sunrise Village in San Marcos, about 110 total. Sunrise Village is a part of Southside Community Center that is a UWF Mission. They are listed on page 239 of the prayer calendar.
We are in need of gift cards. A while back our unit decided that 20 cards per circle would be needed. Right now we are very short.
If you have cards you have not turned in please bring them to the Sep 3 General Meeting and give them to Donna Huser or put them in an envelope marked for Rita Berry and put them in the UWF mailbox in the church office.
If you have not given, please help! Rita will also take money so she can buy the cards.
We need your help by the October General Meeting so we can see how many there are at that time.
- OCT 1 October General Meeting at 9:30 a.m. Come to Room 118 and then join UWF for a meaningful Prayer Walk in our Sanctuary.
- OCT 6 UWF Sunday at all three services.
Impact Sunday During Communion, the first Sunday of each month, attendees can contribute food and laundry supplies to baskets that will be available in the sanctuary, as well as to the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund through offerings on the Communion rail. These donations will support our ongoing community impact ministries, such as our SOS Canned Food collection, our GAP Pack ministry, our Loads of Love ministry, our new community pantry, and more to help those in need in the community.
Heart for Homebound is looking for volunteers to help us on Wednesday afternoons as we visit our members who are no longer able to make it to church.

NEWS
Volunteers needed: We believe it is important for our children and youth to feel they belong to a “Church Family.” One way you can help is to be involved in their ministries. We have a number of volunteer opportunities coming up, and any church member who completes the Safe Gatherings training is welcome to sign up to volunteer. One of the opportunities is on Wednesday afternoons, where Everett is looking for adults who can mentor kids before Wednesday Night Live. We want to provide a space for kids to work on school work and have fellowship with one another. There are other opportunities for teaching Sunday School to kids and Youth. Please take a look at the following links and see where you might be able to be a part of our kids’ “Church Family.”
