Manger Donations
Each Sunday during Advent we collect donations to make an impact in our community and beyond. This year we will start collecting manger donations the week before Advent:
- November 24: Snacks for Connections
- December 1: Toys (new and no wrapping paper) for children in Comal County
- December 8: Handspun Hope will set up a market in the Welcome Center. Handspun Hope, Inc. is a Christian organization providing holistic support to Africa’s poorest through job creation, community building and spiritual counsel.
- December 15: Hoodies for teens and blankets for the homeless
- December 22: Pet supplies for the Humane Society
Special Events
Hanging of the Greens Service On December 1 in, all 3 services, we will prepare our hearts as we prepare our Sanctuary for the season of Advent.
Advent Vespers at Texas Lutheran University: December 6, 6:30 p.m.
Join us on Friday evening, December 6 for our trip to Texas Lutheran University for their annual Advent Vespers. We’ll depart the church parking lot at 6:30, enjoy the always-lovely service, make a dessert stop on the way home, and be back to the church about 10:30. Sign-up will be on the Adult Bulletin Board. Space is limited. Tickets are free, but reservations are required. Cost is $10 per person to help offset the van rental charges.
JOY! A Christmas Cantata, on December 8 at the 9:45 and 11 a.m. services. There will be no 8:30 service this Sunday. Featuring the Sanctuary choir, the praise band, the handbell ensemble, First Bells, and a gospel ensemble with original narration provided by Carol Bissett. Come celebrate the story of the birth of Jesus. This Cantata will feature different musical styles ranging from traditional to contemporary, to praise and gospel/Bluegrass. This year it will be a true celebration by our entire music ministry.
Little Lambs in Bethlehem Children’s Christmas Musical
The kids will be putting on a musical December 15th at the 9:45 service, and we are so excited! It is going to be funny, cute and tell the Christmas story from a unique perspective.
Student Ministry Progressive Dinner: December 8, 4:00 p.m.
This year’s Christmas Party will again be a progressive dinner, meeting at the church at 4:00 on December 8 to get into our groups and go out to houses of our church members for appetizers and main courses before returning to the church for dessert and a White Elephant Gift Exchange.
Darkest Night Service: Friday, December 20, 6:30 p.m.
Darkest Night Christmas Service for those who struggle during the Christmas Season.
Pet Blessings and Santa Pictures: December 22, 4:00 p.m.
Bring your furry, finned, feathered, or scaly family members for a special blessing, and take photos with Santa. Bring a pet supply to donate to the Humane Society.
