MISSION U

United Women in Faith are happy to report FUMC New Braunfels hosted our second Rio Texas UWF Mission U with 120 in attendance in Wesley Hall and five Study Classes. Twenty-one of the attendees were first timers. As one of the five study leaders, our eight hours of study were focused on Experiencing Emmanuel and going into scripture about how God led Puah and Shiphrah, Esther, Hagar and Sarai, the Woman at the well, as well as Genealogies and heritage and Isaiah’s vision. We enjoyed a Subway dinner Friday and a catered lunch Saturday.

UNITED UWF CHURCH WOMEN’S GATHERING

UWF hosted a successful interfaith gathering on June 11, 2026 with a theme of Collaboration: Working Together to do God’s Will. Fourteen representatives from six churches attended and shared information about some of their outreach programs, including:

  • Canyon Lake UMC – Food with Friends provides a free meal each Monday evening to all who attend (they serve 40 to 100 people each week).
  • Christ our King Anglican Church – they work with the Guada-Comal Disaster Alliance and have a program called Pray and Go where they go in public and pray with people they meet.
  • Holy Family Catholic Church – they are located just down the street from the county jail – people just released show up needing help with basics like socks and hygiene items.
  • New Braunfels Presbyterian Church – Memory Café Program a monthly social gathering for those with early-stage dementia and their care givers.
  • St. Paul Lutheran Church – Feed my Starving Children Mission will be sponsoring a Community Mobile Pack event in November.
  • Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church – Gabriel Project helping families with young children obtain diapers, wipes, and cribs.

Diane Hickman did an excellent job of explaining our GAP program and suggested several ways other churches could support this program

Thanks to all the UWF volunteers who helped plan, set up, and provide the meal for this event.

The organized unit of United Women in Faith shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

In fulfillment of this purpose UWF has three meetings a month: General Meeting on the first Tuesday at 10:00 am in Room 118; Circle meetings (see schedule below) at different times during the month, and a Leadership Team meeting once a month that plans for upcoming meetings and activities.

In 2026 we will have a variety of programs that meet our purpose. We will also continue taking birthday cards and flowers (provided by Petals to Go) to the Kirkwood Manor Care Center for those having a birthday in each month. Our annual rummage sale in August will provide funds for our local mission participation. Individual circles offer many ways to participate in helping local non-profit organizations.
