ADULT AND FAMILY MINISTRIES
Every year the church offers a confirmation class for our youth to prepare them to become full church members. You may have taken a confirmation class yourself when you were younger. Do you remember what that class covered? Maybe you joined FUMCNB from another denomination and you never took a United Methodist Membership class. Maybe you have questions about the church that you never had an opportunity to ask. This fall the church will be offering an Adult Confirmation class to give you an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about your church. The 9-week class will begin on September 3 at 6:00PM and will be facilitated by Pastor Andrew and Don Snyder. It will be based on the United Methodist Credo curriculum. Come join us for an enjoyable time as we learn more about our faith and our church!
Can you make time to help us with VBS or Rise Camp this summer? VBS will be June 2-5, and our volunteer sign ups are now open. Adults and youth can sign up to help out the week of VBS or serve during VBS work week starting May 27. VBS will be four days this year, from 9 a.m. to noon. Rise Camp is July 20-23. Registration for participants is now available.

The Gardening/Nature group began its 2025 meetings in March with Pat Nickle from Comal County Master Gardeners. The topic was “Seed Propagation”. We learned how to plant seeds and take care of them while they grow. She showed us a demo of a Seed Propagation Station that her husband, Larry Nickle, made for her. In addition, Vicki Freeman shared information on the BioIntensive Agricultural Training Center in Meru, Kenya and how to build a Kitchen Garden the Kenyan way. On April 22nd, the group went on a field trip to the San Antonio Botanical Gardens and then lunch afterwards. The May, June and July meetings will be held on the last Tuesday of the month at 2:00 PM in Room 118. Everyone is invited to attend. We will have local speakers from groups such as the Comal Master Gardeners, Comal Naturalists, and other outdoor groups. The May 27th meeting will be a presentation: “Effective Landscape Use of Native Plants.” Natives aren’t nearly as demanding as non-native plants. How do you plan, plant and maintain a native landscape? Basic concepts are easy!
