DISCIPLE CLASSES ORIENTATION MEETING We are so excited to have three Disciple classes this year. Disciple 1,2 and 4. There will be an orientation meeting on August 19 at 6 PM in room 219. If you have been looking for a Bible study that will take you through the Bible these studies are it. If you have taken Disciple 1 in the past you can choose to do Disciple 2 or 4. If you have not taken a Disciple class before then Disciple 1 is the class for you. Come and immerse yourself in God’s Word. 
 
BIRDS OF A FEATHER are meeting on Tuesday at Sea Island at Creekside at 11:30.  The live action Moana Movie at 1:15 at Evo Creekside. RSVP Jamie Primrose by Monday.
 
GEN XERS: this note is intended for everyone 40’s-ish to early 60’s-ish!  We have another after-church lunch planned for Sunday, Aug 16.  The group will meet shortly after noon at New York Pizza, 2345 Loop 337, between New Braunfels High School and California Blvd.  Look for Tyana or Darrel and Traci as you enter. Your hosts will have some interesting conversation topics ready as you enjoy some of the best pizza in town.

FIRST FEEDS FROZEN MINISTRY thanks you for your support!  They are taking the month of August off and will return with a tasty offering in September.
 
Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels would like to invite you to the Annual Starlight Soiree for 2026.  This event benefits Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels directly. The theme for this year is “Illuminate the Night in White.”

CALLING ALL RETIRED EDUCATORS  We want to invite those who have dedicated their careers to education to help us bless the current generation of teachers. If you are a retired educator and would like to participate in leading or facilitating these blessings, please fill out our quick sign-up form or contact Mallorie Sarvis. Let’s shower our teachers with support and prayer together!

BACKPACK BLESSINGS AUGUST 16 Join us on Sunday, August 16 for our annual Backpack Blessing! We invite all students from Day School through college, to bring their backpacks as we pray over them and the new school year. Each student will receive a special backpack tag as a reminder that they are loved and prayed for by our congregation throughout the year.

As part of this special Sunday, we’re also collecting individually packaged snacks to support students at low-income schools in our community. Your donations will help provide a little extra nourishment and encouragement to local children throughout the school year.

BLOOD DRIVE The American Red Cross will be having a blood drive on our campus on August 11th from 9 to 2.  Please click here to schedule your donation in advance.
 

THE RUMMAGE SALE IS COMING! THE RUMMAGE SALE IS COMING!
The United Women in Faith will hold their annual rummage sale on August 7. Donation day is Wed, Aug 5th. Please start saving your stuff, and remember:

We accept clean clothing and shoes in good repair, arts & crafts, books jewelry, furniture, linens, plants, yard items, kitchen items and housewares.

We do not accept computers, electronics, TV’s, mattresses, commodes, major appliances, medical equipment or anything broken or not sellable (dirty, not repairable).

Sadly, we are not able to pick up items from homes. Furniture or other heavy items are welcome but please plan to bring help for unloading. We are able to bring in lighter items and will have dollies available.

Last year we gave 6 organizations money donations that totaled $7200. In addition we donated non-cash items to 12 different organizations. We hope that you will help us reach this level and beyond this year.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • First, we want to give everyone advance notice: there will be NO children’s Sunday School in the month of August. Our children’s ministry will be freshening up our classrooms and gearing up for the next school year.
  • Second, we’re looking for a couple more Sunday School teachers for this school year. Our PreK class and our Kinder through 2nd class both need leaders this year. These are fun, rewarding volunteer positions. The children’s department provides all the supplies and curriculum. Talk to Mallorie Sarvis if you can give our kids a little of your time.

Pizza Olympics is Back!
Join us for our THIRD annual Pizza Olympics on Friday, August 21 from 6–8 PM in Wesley Hall. We’ll taste and race pizzas from local pizza delivery restaurants, share in worship, and enjoy time together as a church family—with plenty of pizza, of course!
All ages welcome. Bring your appetite and a friend!

The Gardening and Nature Group is on Summer break.  Check back for details on when they will meet again.

Evening Game Group meets Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to about 7:00 in the Welcome Cafe.

Monday Games Join us for some game time – easy and easy-to-learn games like Bunco or Chicken Foot or Tensie’s. 10:30 to 1:00 in the Welcome Cafe.  Bring your lunch if you’d like.  Karen will have water and iced tea.

Coffee Connection FUMC men gather on Tuesday mornings at 7:30 at Casa Garcia for breakfast and conversation.  Hosted by Pastor Don. Click here for more information.

Pickleball 
Regular meetings are Tuesdays at 6 p.m. in Wesley Hall. Watch the church calendar for schedule changes.  Some weeks we meet off campus to make room for FUMC ministries that need the gym. Contact Lori Oden for details.

Walk to Emmaus is an inspiring experience held over a three day retreat where Jesus’ love is revealed to you through other Christians. After the retreat, pilgrims meet regularly with others who have been on a walk.

Monday Women’s Emmaus Group meets every Monday in Room 217 at the church at 1:00.  Request to join this group.

Thursday Women’s Emmaus Group meets on Thursday nights at 6 PM in room 215. Please contact Lori Oden for details

MEN’S Emmaus Reunion Group meets weekly on Wednesdays at 4:00pm in Room 224

Other Emmaus Reunion groups also meet on campus.  Join the Emmaus Group for information.

LUNCH BUNCH usually meets monthly on the last Tuesday from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.   Lunch Bunch will meet at Rudy’s BBQ on Tuesday, July 28, at 11:30 am. Contact Libby Meyer to RSVP.  

Mahjong Group meets every Thursday at 1:30-4:30pm in room the Welcome Cafe at church. We are a friendly group who love the game but also love each other.  Come and join us for great fun and fellowship!

There is so much excitement happening in our youth ministry right now. Our students have some amazing opportunities ahead for faith, fellowship, and fun!

    • For Youth: We are encouraging all youth available to attend this life-changing week of service!
    • For Parents: We need Parent Volunteers to serve as adult leaders.
  • July 27–31: Camp Eagle
    • A week of outdoor adventure and deep spiritual growth.

Important Reminders

  • MYF Dinners: We are looking for volunteers to sign up to provide Sunday night meals. Please check the sign-up sheet!
  • Scholarships: If financial assistance is needed for any trip, please fill out a youth scholarship application. We want to ensure we have a plan in place so that every student can participate.
  • Communication: Stay tuned to emails and social media for pool party updates and specific trip details.

1st Kids Worship (9:45)
Drop off kids with our volunteer in the sanctuary where they will participate in the first part of worship. Then, they will be taken to room 208 or the playground for a lesson and games. Kids are also more than welcome to sit with their family and then head out when it’s time.

1st Kids Connect (11:00)
We offer an 11:00 Sunday School for kids called 1st Kids Connect! Kids are welcome to attend both 9:45 and 11:00 where they will participate in a Bible lesson, activities, and games. Drop off for 1st Kids Connect will be in room 208.

Volunteers
If you would like to volunteer to help out with the children’s ministry, please let Mallorie know. We’d love to connect with you!

IMPACT MINISTRIES

FIRST FEEDS  FUMC has a Food Ministry consisting of a team of ladies that LOVE to cook and who provide meals for our congregation! If you and your family would appreciate a meal due to a new baby, a family illness or other situation, please let us know.  Jot your info in the registration pad, notify Kathy Gibson or any staff member and we will be in contact.  And, if you too like to cook and would like to join our ministry, let us know.

MOBILE COMMUNION STEWARDS Members of this group take Communion to homebound church members on the first Sunday of the month.  Contact Lori or Ron Oden to get more information, join the group, or ask to be visited.  

HEART FOR HOMEBOUND is looking for a few new volunteers to help us on Wednesday afternoons as we visit our members who are no longer able to make it to church. We meet at 1:30 in Room 118 and are usually finished with our visits by 3:30.  Contact Martha Harrison for more information.
